The state of Ohio oftentimes carries the moniker "Mother of Presidents". This refers to the fact that Ohio has been the birthplace of seven US presidents to date:
--Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of the United States, was born in Point Pleasant, Ohio, in the southwestern part of the state, near the Ohio River.
--Rutherford B. Hayes, 19th president, was born in Delaware, Ohio, twenty miles north of Columbus.
--James A. Garfield, 20th president, was born in northwestern Ohio.
--Benjamin Harrison, 23rd president, was born in North Bend, in the southwestern part of the state.
--William McKinley, 25th president, was born in Niles, Ohio.
--William Howard Taft, 27th president, was born in Cincinnati.
--Warren Harding, 29th president, was born near Corsica, now Blooming Grove, Ohio.
