Research Triangle Park
The state of North Carolina is home to the Research Triangle Park. The largest such research area in the nation, Research Triangle Park is located near Chapel Hill, (home to the University of North Carolina), Durham, (home to Duke University), and Raleigh, North Carolina, home to a number of institutions of higher learning, including North Carolina State University. (Raleigh is also the capital city of North Carolina.)

Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway
The Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway extends from Boston, Massachusetts to Key West, Florida, which includes the coastline of the state of North Carolina. An important U.S. shipping route, the waterway allows freedom of movement for the goods of commerce to make its way from one area of the nation to another. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers maintains the waterway.
