Genuine Risk

A "Famous Horse" not used in the puzzle above is Genunine Risk.

Genuine Risk was a chestnut filly foaled in 1977, (by Exclusive Native-Virtuous, by Gallant Man). The thoroughbred ran four races at age two, winning each one. At age three, Genuine Risk ran in the 1980 Kentucky Derby, as a 31-1 long shot. Coming from behind, (seventh place), she won the 106th Run for the Roses -- the first filly to do so since Regret in 1915. (Winning Colors would be the next filly to win the Derby, in 1988.)

Genuine Risk would go on to become the first filly to participate in all three Triple Crown races. She came in second in the Preakness Stakes. Controversy surrounded Codex finishing the Preakness in front of Genuine Risk, but she was clearly defeated by Temperence Hill in the Belmont Stakes, although she did claim second spot.

Genuine Risk was inducted into the Racing Hall of Fame in 1986.
