Classic Books

Pick a dozen individuals at random and ask each one what is their favorite book of all-time and chances are, you will receive a dozen different answers. And so it goes in compiling a list of "Classic Books" -- the results are the arbitrary favorites of the compiler.

The book titles used in the puzzle below were chosen randomly from an extensive list of book titles, based on the alphabetic letters contained in the words of titles. Still, even though the choices were random, the list contains four Pulitzer Prize winners in fiction: Beloved (1987), Toni Morrison; One of Ours (1922), Willa Cather; Rabbit at Rest (1990) John Updike; and The Grapes of Wrath (1939), John Steinbeck.

Works of William Faulkner made the list twice, and the book that many critics call "the greatest novel ever written", James Joyce's Ulysses (1922), rounds out this list of classics.
