TV Trivia: Hanna-Barbera Cartoons

The animated characters referred to in puzzle clue 7 Down above are one of several classic cartoons created by the Hanna-Barbera team. The animation studio, founded in 1957, created such television classics as The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Scooby-Doo, The Huckleberry Hound Show, The Yogi Bear Show, and others.

Founded by artist, director, producer Joseph Barbera, and artist, director, producer William Hanna, along with director George Sidney, Hanna-Barbera Productions was the leading animation studio throughout the latter half of the 20th century.

The animated theatrical short films referred to in this puzzle won the Academy Awards for Best Short Subject (Cartoons) seven times. The cartoons are still available to their world-wide fan base in a variety of formats including syndicated television programming and general market DVDs.

Did you know? Hanna and Barbera created 114 short Tom and Jerry cartoons during the 1940s and 1950s.
