TV Trivia: Cheers

Clues 27 Across and 10 Down in the puzzle above refer to one of the most popular television shows of all time, Cheers. Starring, in alphabetical order: Kirstie Alley, Nicholas Colasanto, Ted Danson, Kelsey Grammer, Woody Harrelson, Shelley Long, Bebe Neuwirth, Rhea Perlman, John Ratzenberger, and George Wendt; the show immortalized such television characters as Sam, Diane, Norm, Carla, Woody, Frasier, and Cliff.

Set in a Boston bar, the show centers around the lives of the individual characters as they share their day-to-day triumphs and failures over a drink.

The show won twenty-eight Emmy Awards and six Golden Globe awards, with the main actors on the show each being nominated for an individual Emmy.

Emmy winners from the show include: Kirstie Alley, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 1991 for her portrayal of the character, Rebecca Howe; Ted Danson, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 1990 and 1993 for Sam Malone; Woody Harrelson, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 1989 for playing bartender Woody Boyd; Shelley Long, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 1983 for her portrayal of waitress, Diane Chambers; Bebe Neuwirth, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 1990 and 1991, as Lilith Sternin; and Rhea Perlman, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 1984, 1985, 1986, and 1989, for her portrayal of the brash waitress, Carla Tortelli.

The show, which as a whole, also received seven Emmy awards in various production categories, can still be seen in syndication.
