A Peek into the Past

On this date in 1397 Geoffrey Chaucer introduced The Canterbury Tales at the court of King Richard II of England. Chaucer used satire extensively in his writings that portray all levels of English society during the period in which he lived and served as an attendant at the courts of the British monarchs Edward III and Richard II. Chaucer's works heavily influenced subsequent English literature for generations. He died in 1400 and is buried in the Poets' Corner in Westminster Abbey.
