Super Bowl MVP quarterback, Peyton Manning, of the Indianapolis Colts, referred to in clue 29 Down in the sports theme crossword puzzle above, is well known to football fans for his talents on the NFL playing field. While in college, he broke and set new records for the school and the Southeastern Conference, (SEC). In the SEC, he set records for career passing yards; completions; completion percentage; INT percentage; season's lowest INT percentage; most 300 plus yard games; and total offense.
Just the school records that Peyton Manning set anew included 33 career records, 10 season records, and seven game records. And for the single season passing yardage record, Manning holds the top three spots at his alma mater.
During his senior, and final season in college, Manning threw for a whopping 3,819 yards, and 37 touchdowns. (He topped that touchdown record as a senior in high school, throwing for 39 TDs.)
As he continues to put up hall of fame numbers in the NFL, sports fan will look with interest at his final statistics upon his retirement some time in the future.
