Location

Honduras is located on the Central American isthmus with coastline on the Pacific Ocean and extensive coastline on the Caribbean Sea. The country is bounded by Guatemala and the Caribbean Sea on the north, Nicaragua on the south and El Salvador and Guatemala on the west.

Geographic Features

Geographic features of Honduras include mountains in the interior regions and narrow coastal plains.

Climate

The climate is tropical along the coasts and cooler in the interior.

The flag of Honduras, pictured above, features five
five-pointed stars in the center of three colored bands of
equal widths. The stars represent Costa Rica, El Salvador,
Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, members of the
now-defunct Federal Republic of Central America.
According to the CIA World Factbook1, the blue bands of
color represent the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea
with the white between representing the land. The flag
resembles that of Nicaragua.
