LocationLocated in South America, Bolivia is bounded by Brazil to the north, Brazil and Paraguay to the east, Argentina to the south, and Chile and Peru to the west. Geographic FeaturesBolivia's geographic features include dense tropical rainforests in the north and the large mountain lake Titicaca in the northwest. In the southwest is the great windswept plateau, the Altiplano between two ranges of the Andes. ClimateThe north and east regions are hot and humid. The Altiplano has an extreme tropical climate. |

Formation
Formerly Upper Peru, Bolivia became an independent country in 1824.
Fun Fact
Lago Titicaca is the world's highest (in altitude) navigable lake. Control of the lake is shared between Bolivia and Peru.
