World Countries: Belize

Location

Located on the southeastern Yucatan Peninsula, Belize is bordered by Mexico to the north, the Caribbean Sea to the east, and Guatemala to the west.

Geographic Features

Belize is a country of low-lying tropical areas, swampy coastal plains, and rainforest. The southeast is marked by low mountains.

Climate

The hot and humid tropical climate has a distinct annual rainy season from May to December.

only national flag in the world to portray
humans. They are part of the coat of
arms as shown. The colors blue and
red represent the nation's two main
political parties.

Formation

The British claimed the country as British Honduras in 1862, having settled there since the 17th century. In 1981, Belize gained independence.
