James Paul David "Jim" Bunning was born October 23, 1931 in Southgate, Kentucky. Bunning was first elected to the United States Senate in 1998. Prior to election to the U.S. Senate, Bunning served as U.S. Congressman from Kentucky's 4th District. Before entering politics, Bunning played Major League Baseball for 17 years as a pitcher. Addison Mitchell "Mitch" McConnell, Jr. was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama on February 20, 1942. A graduate of University of Louisville College of Arts and Sciences and the University of Kentucky College of Law, McConnell served as judge-executive of Jefferson County from 1978 until beginning his tenure in the U.S. Senate in January, 1985. The congressman was born Albert Benjamin Chandler III on September 12, 1959 in Versailles, Kentucky, the grandson of Albert Chandler, former Kentucky Governor, U.S. Senator, and Commissioner of Baseball.
