Fun Facts: George Washington was the first national president in the history of the world. The person sworn in as president of the United States in January of 2009, will become the nation's 44th such chief executive to occupy the world's oldest continously freely elected head of government office.

Fun Facts: The Constitution of the United States granted the president certain powers and responsibilites, one of which was to be commander-in-chief of the military. George Washington was literally the commander-in-chief during his second term in office, when he, (along with his Treasursy Secretary Alexander Hamilton, and Revolutionary War hero, Henry Lee), personally led federal troops into Pennsylvania in 1794 to quell armed protestors in what became known in the annals of US history as the "Whiskey Rebellion".
