Did You Know? (15 Across) The historic Shea Stadium just recently reached the end of its role as a major sports arena. The stadium, located in the Queens borough of New York City, has been the home field of the New York Mets since 1964, until just recently. The NFL team, the New York Jets, also used the stadium as their home from the time of its opening until 1983 and another area NFL team, the New York Giants, played their 1975 season there while Giants Stadium was under construction. The baseball Mets crosstown rivals, the New York Yankees, also played in Shea during 1974-1975 while Yankee Stadium was being renovated. The Metropolitans began home play in their new park, Citi Field in 2009, after which the historic Shea began to be dismantled.
