Below are simple definitions to nine of the "k" English language verbs used in the puzzle above: - kangaroo When used a verb, kangaroo means to leap, jerk, bounce. [Derived from the action of the animal, kangaroo.]
- keel 1. Walk as if unable to control one's movements, as in "to keel over". (Keel is more commonly used as a NOUN, meaning: One of the main longitudinal beams (or plates) of the hull of a vessel which can extend into the water to provide stability. [Word origin is thought to be derived from Old High German kiol.]
- kilt When used as a verb, kilt means to make broad, vertical pleats in; similar to "crease", "fold", and "gather". [Derived from the short pleated skirt of the same name.]
- kindle 1. Call forth (emotions, feelings, and responses). 2. To set something alight, start burning. 3. To brighten or glow. 4. To ignite emotions or interest in something. Synonyms and similar words: awaken, elicit, encourage, evoke, promote, spark, ignite, rouse. [Derived from Old Norse kynda.]
