Places to Go and Things to Know: Montana
Montana has a large number of lakes and reservoirs, the largest of which is Flathead Lake in the northwestern part of the state. This pristine body of water is the largest natural freshwater lake in the continental US, west of the Mississippi River. With a 160 mile shoreline and several small islands, there is much to see and do around the Flathead area. Also, nearby is Glacier National Park, which in turn borders Waterton Lakes National Park of Canada.
Glacier National Park will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2010 and is in the process of renovating and improving visitor facilities for the upcoming event.
