Below are definitions to the less common "c" adjectives used in the puzzle above:

  • cade Describes animals that have been abandoned by their mother and reared by humans.
  • cagey Secretive and cautious; refusing to be open and direct. Synonyms: wary, careful, cautious, evasive, guarded, reticent, secretive, wary.
  • callow Young or immature; lacking the experience of life that comes from adulthood. Synonyms: adolescent, green, immature, naive, raw, youthful.
  • calorific 1. Containing many calories, and so likely to be fattening. Synonyms: fattening, fatty, greasy, oily, rich. 2. Relating to heat or calories, especially the number of calories contained in food.
  • capricious Tending to make sudden unexpected changes. Synonyms: changeable, erratic, fickle, flighty, impulsive, unpredictable, unreliable, variable, wayward, whimsical.
  • cardinal When used as an adjective, the word cardinal is defined as: 1. Fundamentally important. 2. Of a deep strong red color. Synonyms: basic, central, chief, core, essential, fundamental, important, key, prime, principal, serious.
  • caustic 1. Very sarcastic and intend to mock, offend, or belittle somebody. Synonyms: biting, cutting, mordant, razor-sharp, sarcastic, scathing. 2. Corrosive or burning by chemical action. Synonyms: acidic, burning, corrosive.
  • cellular 1. Containing small parts or groups that make up a whole. 2. (Biology) Relating to or consisting of living cells. 3. (Telecommunications) Organized as a system of cells, especially for radio communication. 4. (Textiles) Woven or knitted to produce thick open-textured cloth.
  • centesimal 1. Divided into hundredths. 2. Describes a number system that uses a base of 100. 3. Constituting 1/100th of something.
  • cephalic Relating to the head, or in the region of the head. (The prefix "cephalo-" pertains to the head or skull. An example of its use is in the word "cephalometry", which is defined as the measurement of human heads, especially using X-rays or technology. The suffix "-cephaly" refers to a particular condition of the head or skull, such as: microcephaly, defined as the condition of having a small head or reduced space for the brain in the skull, often associated with learning difficulties.)
  • chota 1 Small in size. 2. Relatively low in importance or rank.
  • chronic 1. Describes a condition that lasts over a long period. Synonyms: continuing, enduring, lasting, lingering, prolonged, protracted. 2. Always present or recurring. 3. Repeatedly doing something or behaving compulsively. Synonyms: compulsive, established, habitual, ingrained, inveterate, long-standing, persistent. An antonym would be occasional.
