Below are definitions to the less common "b" adjectives used in the puzzle above:

  • balmy 1. Mild and pleasant; (commonly used in reference to the climate or current weather). 2. Informal or slang terms for mentally irregular. Synonyms: around the bend, barmy, bats, batty, bonkers, buggy, cracked, crackers, daft, dotty, fruity, haywire, kookie, kooky, loco, loony, loopy, nuts, nutty, round the bend, wacky, whacky.
  • banal 1. Obvious and dull; boringly ordinary and lacking in originality. Synonyms: commonplace, trivial. 2. Repeated too often; overfamiliar through overuse. Synonyms: commonplace, hackneyed, old-hat, shopworn, stock, threadbare, timeworn, tired, trite, well-worn.
  • bandy Used to describe legs that curve outward so knees cannot meet.
  • barmy (See definition "2" for balmy above.)
  • basal 1. At or forming the bottom of something. 2. Basic or fundamental.
  • bawdy Ribald in a frank, humorous, and often crude way.
  • beaut A fine or impressive thing; something outstanding. (Slang shortening of beauty or beautiful.)
  • beefy 1. Strong and muscular. 2. Having strength, power, or substance. Synonym: powerful.
  • bifid Divided at one end into two equal parts.
  • bionic 1. In science fiction, used to describe a human being who has had some human organs or functions replaced or enhanced by electronically powered parts that give superhuman capabilities. 2. Having superhuman strength, speed, or intensity. 3. In biology, relating to or involving bionics. (Bionics is the study of biological function and mechanics, and their application to machine design.)
  • bitty 1. Extremely small in size or physical stature. Synonym: tiny, teeny, teeny-weeny. 2. Made up of lots of different parts that do not seem to fit together. Synonyms: disjointed, fragmented, scrappy, fragmentary, disconnected, sketchy.
  • bogus 1. Fake or deceitful imitation; not genuine or true. Synonyms: false, fake, feigned, counterfeit, hoax, mock, phony, sham, spurious, trick. 2. (American Slang) Bad or useless; not pleasant.
  • bovid Relating to or belonging to the family of hollow-horned, hoofed, ruminant animals that include cattle, sheep, and antelopes. Derived: genus Bos.
