Jack Del Rio took over as the head coach of the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars in 2003. Known for his defensive coaching abilities as an assistant coach prior to the Jaguars head coaching position, Del Rio was a Pro Bowl linebacker in his playing career. Out of college at USC, Del Rio was chosen in round three of the 1985 NFL draft by the New Orleans Saints. The Saints would also be the team for which he would later hold his first coaching position.

After playing for the Saints in 1985-86, Del Rio played for the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, and Miami Dolphins, where he retired in 1996. The next year he went back to New Orleans as the strength and conditioning coach.
