Golf Trivia Exact origins of the sport of golf are unknown. However, it is certain that the modern game we play today was born in Scotland. Historians speculate that the Dutch people introduced the Scots to a game played with sticks and pebbles during medieval times. During the reign of King James II, the Scottish people enjoyed golf and soccer to the extent that military training suffered. Thus both sports were banned for almost fifty years, although folks continued to play. Today, Scotland is home to "The Open" played at the historic Saint Andrews course in Fife, Scotland. See Also: |
