Did You Know? (35 Across) American film director and comedian Mel Brooks is known for his slapstick comedy such as that in the film Blazing Saddles (1974), which Brooks directed. The Producers, (1968), for which Brooks wrote the screenplay, earned the comedian/director an Academy Award. Then in 2000, he turned the film into a musical for the Broadway stage and the production garnered 12 Tony Awards.
