Did You Know? (40 Down) The Canadian province of Manitoba lies in the geographic center of the the country. Known as one of the three "Prairie" provinces, (the other two being Alberta and Saskatchewan), Manitoba has been nicknamed the Keystone Province since 1877. Then Governor-General of Canada, Lord Dufferin, (Frederick Temple Hamilton Blackwood, Earl of Dufferin), described Manitoba as "the keystone of that mighty arch of sister provinces which spans the continent from the Atlantic to the Pacific". (Winnipeg is the capital and largest city in the "Keystone Province".)
