Ohio ranks next, being the native state of seven presidents: Grant, Hayes, Garfield, Harrison, McKinley, Taft, and Harding. Massachusetts and New York produced four each, respectively; North Carolina, Texas, and Vermont, two each. The states of Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina, have each been the birthplace of one US president.
