Tonight Show as a guest host in 1986 when Johnny Carson was still at
the helm. He was so well liked by the show's audience, Carson, and the folks at
NBC - the following year he was made the exclusive guest host and then
subsequently took over hosting the show full-time when Carson retired in 1992.
