part of Major League Baseball since 1901, although the team had no official
nickname until 1908. The Sox have played their home games at the historic Fenway
Park since 1912. Currently in the 2008 season, they are the reigning World
Series Champions. The Atlanta Braves are another major league team that
originated in Boston. The current Braves began as the Boston Red Stockings in
1871. Other names the Braves have carried are: Boston Beaneaters, Boston Doves,
Boston Rustlers, Boston Braves, and Boston Bees. They were also the Milwaukee
Braves from 1953-1965, before moving to their current home in Atlanta in 1966.
