sympathy, whereas sympathy generally refers to an understanding of feelings of
loss or sorrow. Sometimes one sees the word "emphatic" misused and misspelled in
place of "empathy". Emphatic means: forceful and definite in expression;
exclamatory; sudden or strong; or spoken with emphasis - not at all similar to
empathic.
